Who we are.
This Privacy Policy describes how StorytellingU (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our websites, funnels, and services, including www.storytellingu.com, our Mighty Networks community, and our checkout pages powered by Studiocart and Stripe (collectively, the “Services”).

1) Information we collect
A. Information you provide
- Account details (name, email, password) when joining our Mighty Networks community or subscribing to any of its plans or digital products.
- Contact information and preferences when you opt in to emails via Kit (previously ConvertKit).
- Payment details (handled by Stripe) and purchase records (product, price, currency, tax, time). We do not store full card numbers.
- Content you post in our community (posts, comments, messages, profile info).
- Support requests, survey responses, testimonials, or other information you send us.
B. Information we collect automatically
- Usage and device data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring URLs, approximate location, timestamps).
- Cookies, pixels, and similar technologies for login, preferences, analytics, and conversions. See Cookies below.
C. Information from third parties
- Stripe / Stripe Tax: payment, tax jurisdiction and address info required for tax calculation/compliance.
- Studiocart (WordPress plugin): checkout and order events stored in our website database, with payment details securely transmitted to Stripe (or PayPal if enabled).
- Kit/ConvertKit: email engagement (opens, clicks), tags/segments.
- Mighty Networks: community activity (e.g., joins, membership status).
- Zapier: limited data passed between services to automate fulfillment (e.g., after purchase).
D. Website comments & media. If you leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, your IP address, and browser user agent string to help spam detection. If you upload images, avoid including location data (EXIF GPS), as visitors could download and extract that data.
2) How we use information
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve the Services, courses, products, membership, and community features.
- Process payments and calculate/collect applicable taxes (via Stripe / Stripe Tax).
- Deliver digital products, send onboarding emails, and grant community access.
- Communicate about updates, content, offers, surveys, and service notices.
- Personalize content (e.g., recommended discussions or lessons).
- Monitor security and prevent fraud/abuse.
- Comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
Legal bases (EU/UK users): performance of a contract, legitimate interests (e.g., service improvement, security, marketing to existing customers), consent (where required), and legal obligations.
3) How we share information
We share information with:
- Payment & tax processors: Stripe (and Stripe Tax) to process payments and comply with tax rules.
- Email & CRM: Kit/ConvertKit to send emails and manage subscriber tags/automations.
- Funnels/Pages: Studiocart (WordPress plugin) to create checkout forms, sales funnels, and order pages on our website.
- Community platform: Mighty Networks to operate the private community.
- Automation: Zapier to connect purchase events to fulfillment (e.g., access invites).
- Analytics/advertising (not currently enabled): We may use tools such as Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site..
- Professional advisors & authorities where required (legal, tax, compliance).
- In a business transaction (merger, acquisition, asset sale), where permitted.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share de-identified or aggregated data.
4) Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies/pixels for:
- Authentication and session management.
- Preferences and performance.
- Analytics and conversion measurement.
- Advertising/retargeting.

5) Your rights & choices
Email marketing. Click “unsubscribe” in any marketing email or email us at erin@storytellingu.com. (We may still send transactional/service emails.)
Access, correction, deletion. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. Email erin@storytellingu.com with the subject “Privacy Request.”
EU/UK residents. You may have rights to object/restrict processing, data portability, and to withdraw consent. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California residents (CPRA). You may request: (i) access to categories/specific pieces of personal information we collected; (ii) deletion; (iii) correction; and (iv) information about disclosures. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by CPRA. Use erin@storytellingu.com to submit a request. We will verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
6) International data transfers
We are based in the United States and may process information in the U.S. and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses for EU/UK transfers).
7) Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to:
- provide the Services and fulfill purchases,
- meet legal/tax/accounting obligations (e.g., WA DOR, IRS, other jurisdictions),
- resolve disputes, and
- enforce agreements.
Retention periods vary by data type and legal requirements.
8) Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the risk (e.g., HTTPS, access controls). Secure downloads. If you purchase digital products from us, download links are delivered through secure, access-controlled systems (such as Studiocart, Stripe, and Kit/Convertkit). Links may be time-limited or require login to ensure that only authorized purchasers can access the files. We take reasonable measures to prevent unauthorized access or distribution, though no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9) Children’s privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact erin@storytellingu.com to request deletion.
10) Third-party links
Our Services may link to third-party sites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
11) Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated date at the top and, if changes are material, we will notify you by email or prominent notice in the Services.

Service-specific disclosures
Stripe / Stripe Tax. We transmit necessary purchase and address/tax information to Stripe to process payments and determine applicable taxes. Stripe acts as an independent controller for payment data under its own privacy policy. We do not store full payment card details.
Mighty Networks. If you join our community, your profile, posts, and interactions are visible within the community per your settings. We moderate for safety and community guidelines.
Kit/ConvertKit. When you opt in or purchase, we may add you to segments/tags to deliver product access, onboarding, and relevant content. You can unsubscribe anytime.
Studiocart (WordPress plugin). We use Studiocart to create checkout forms, sales funnels, and order pages on our website. Information you enter at checkout (such as your name, email, and order details) is stored in our website database and securely transmitted to Stripe (or PayPal, if enabled) for payment processing.
Zapier. Limited personal data (e.g., name, email, product purchased) may pass through Zapier solely to automate fulfillment (e.g., granting access). Zapier processes this data under its own privacy terms.
Washington State note
For Washington customers, certain transactions may require us to collect sales tax and related location data to comply with state law. Tax collection may be performed by Stripe on our behalf.
